Injuries

Thank you, Wayne

It appears that the pass that WR Wayne Chrebet caught late in the fourth quarter against the San Diego Chargers was probably his last one in the NFL. Chrebet suffered a concussion on that play and will be placed on the injured reserve. Considering that this was an at least ninth concussion for Chrebet, his career is now most likely over. Chrebet, an 11-year veteran, was signed in 1995 as an undrafted free agent from Hofstra. During his career with the New York Jets Wayne caught 580 passes for 7,365 yards and 41 touchdowns. His best season was in 1998 when he crossed the 1,000-yard receiving mark for the first and only time in his career. We all will remember Wayne Chrebet for his fearless catches in traffic and ability to convert third downs.

TE Chris Baker was also placed on the injured reserve with a broken ankle.

Finally, Herman Edwards announced that QB Brooks Bollinger will start next Sunday against the Carolina Panthers - an obvious move, considering Bollinger's performance in the 4th quarter against San Diego.
