The New York Jets announced today that head coach Herman Edwards received a 2-year contract extension despite the 6-10 record, worst since 1996. In 3 seasons with the New York Jets Herman Edwards has posted a 25-23 record, making the playoffs in his first two seasons with the team. After going 10-6 in 2001, Edwards' Jets had a 9-7 record in 2002 but did win the AFC East division title, courtesy of the unbelievable late comeback by the New England Patriots against the Miami Dolphins. Seeing how the Jets have become only worse in each season of the Edwards' regime, the decision to extend his contract for two more years appears to be questionable at best..
In other news, Jets WR coach Mike Canales left the team and joined the University of Arizona as offensive coordinator.
