The New York Jets completely dominated the Buffalo Bills on the way to their first win of the season. The Jets defense played an outstanding game, as they allowed less than 200 total yards, recorded 7 sacks, and caused 4 turnovers. QB Vinny Testaverde did not put up any spectacular numbers, but his 3 touchdown passes were just enough to lift Gang Green to a 30-3 victory.
Testaverde completed 11 of his 17 passes for a total of 130 yards, 3 TDs, and 0 INTs. TE Anthony Becht caught two of Testaverde's touchdown passes, including a beautiful 18-yarder right after WR Santana Moss' long punt return. On the ground the Jets finally broke the 100-yard barrier. RB Curtis Martin gained 77 yards on 20 carries, and LB LaMont Jordan added 33 more on 10 carries.
On the defensive side the Jets probably played their best game in quite a while. They limited the Bills to a mere 53 yards on the ground and caused four turnovers. RB Travis Henry, who had usually had career games against the Jets, was limited to just 2.9 yards per carry. QB Drew Bledsoe was sacked seven times by the Jets defense. DE Shaun Ellis recorded two sacks and now leads the league with seven. DT DeWayne Robertson had the first sack of his career. Starting cornerbacks Ray Mickens and Aaron Beasley had an interception and two pass defenses apiece.
On special teams WR/PR Santana Moss looked simply amazing. He had 3 returns for a total of 103 yards, including a long 47-yard one that set up a Jets touchdown.
Next week the Jets will travel to Houston to take on the 2-3 Houston Texans.
