Thomas Jones Out With Strained Calf Muscle

added on 08/13/2007 10:08 PM

RB Thomas Jones has a strained right calf muscle, according to his agent. Jones, who was acquired by the Jets in the offseason via a trade with the Chicago Bears, is hoping to be back in lineup for the season opener.

Jones walked with a slight limp Monday, a day after injuring the leg, and spent most of the morning session working on a hand bike and doing calisthenics.

In Jones' absence, RB Leon Washington has been practicing with the first team.
